# Verida Token ($VDA)

Verida Token ($VDA) is used to pay for safely storing and managing your data in the Verida Network. If you want to keep your data secure, share it, or use apps that use your information for a more personalized experience, you’ll need $VDA.

$VDA helps people take care of their data in a safe way. It lets users store, control, and share their data, only when they want to.

The Verida network is a self-sovereign “user-pays” model, whereby users pay for their own storage needs. In this way, “access to user data” is not the product, rather **the product is the “security and protection” of user data.**<br>
